The Different Littman Stethoscope Models For Different Specialists

      By admin | April 13, 2008

A doctor uses a stethoscope to listen to sounds in your body that reveal the state of your health. This, in turn, allows the doctor to diagnose and treat your ailment, if any, early. Your doctor is best served if he uses a stethoscope which gives maximum clarity of sound.

There are several Littman Stethoscopes in the market.

      Master Classic II

A Master Classic II is clear even in a place where there’s a lot of ambient noise, such as a bus. Therefore it is suitable for doctors working in mobile hospitals, or other places where there are visitors, children, etc.

      Cardiology III

Cardiology III is suitable for listening to lung sounds along with apical pulses. This stethoscope is also a favorite with pediatricians, as it comes with a pediatric-sized diaphragm. This scope lacks a bell. But it has been found that by pushing down on either side of a Cardiology III, one gets the same effect as a bell. This all-round quality of a Cardiology III also makes it sought after by med school students.

      Littman II Pediatric Stethoscope

As the name suggests, this is a scope meant especially for pediatrics. Although some pediatrics favor the Cardiology III, because of the latter’s superior acoustic quality, this scope comes with a bell, which is missing in the case of a Cardiology III.

      Classic III

While the Classic II is among the most popular stethoscopes, doctors prefer the Classic III when they treat patients suffering from BP.

      Model 3000

The manufacturers claim that this stethoscope is technologically equipped to reduce ambient sound, while amplifying organ sounds, simultaneously.

Some users claim to be attracted by innovation in these stethoscopes. They cite the example of different designs of ear-tips available, to cater to different needs of different users. They also say that the settings can be changed using one hand, leaving the other free for any other work, such as checking the blood pressure of the patient.

Others claim to like the variations in size, weight, ease-of-use, or longevity.

From indications, this scope could become an all-round favorite of various specialists, in the near future.
