How To Overcome Your Personal Fears

      By admin | May 15, 2008

What a subject where do we start, overcoming our personal fears. Can one thing fix all, I doubt it however I know that there are certain simple practices that have helped me in the past. I have shared these principles with others and they report remarkable progress in overcoming personal fears.

To me it’s about getting into the moment. To Often our minds play tricks and present unwanted outcomes before we have even started.

The point prior to addressing these thoughts/feelings can be truly paralysing however facing it and trying to fight back is not always the best way forward.

Instead, when you feel fear then accept the feeling. Don’t try to fight it or to keep it out, don’t ignore it just breathe deeply and feel accept the feeling.

Listen to the feeling in your mind and body; try not to make it worse by feeling inadequate with these feelings. If you let it in - for me the feeling then often seems to physically locate itself to the middle of my chest or upper abdomen - and just observe it for maybe a minute or two something fantastic happens. The feeling starts to loose its power and eventually can also drive me forward.

I used this technique when starting out on my speaking career and it has never failed to help me and empower me from the anxious, nervous self.As you let go to the fear instead of fighting it the negative energy will pass through you and your body will release it. And you can return to focusing on the moment once again.

Focusing on the moment not only reduces fear but also increases the chances of you succeeding as your mind is focused, your confidence isn’t shattered your thoughts become clear. It also makes it easier to succeed because when you are in the moment you are not that self-conscious, but instead focused on the outside world and people you are interacting with, this also helps with clarity of thought.

If like me, you are still not sure well just try it, overcoming your personal fears can be a massive turning point in your life, it was for me when tried these practices produced dramatic results.
