Save Your Grocery Money With A Menu

      By admin | May 9, 2008

Sick and tired of spending hundreds at the grocery store, only to come home and not be able to put dinner together. Well look no further! The answer is really simple, write a menu. Not only will you have a decadent meal on the table each night, you’ll save money on groceries too.

Menu planning can be a simple thing to do, or it can take you hours, it’s up to you. The first question is “Do you like certain meals or do you prefer a variety?” If certain meals is your answer, planning your menu each week shouldn’t take you more than a few minutes. Variety lovers, plan to spend at least an hour preparing your menu plan each week.

Below is a step by step guide to menu planning for each answer. Truly be prepared for the money you will save, it’s gonna shock you!

      Comfort Lovers (Certain Meals)

Grab a notebook and a pen and write down at least 30 meals you love. Just start scribbling them down, until you can’t think of anymore. That’s it for you! Now, at the beginning of each week, just go to this list and choose 7 meals for the week! It’s really that simple when you have a predetermined list of loved foods.

      Variety Lovers

Now, for those of you who like variety. Your job is going to be much harder. First, write down all the foods you know you love. Second, grab some cookbooks or head online and start searching for recipes. Since you enjoy different things at different times, I have two suggestions.

      1. On you initial food list, I really think you should give yourself more leeway than a comfort lover. Write down at least 50 of your favorite recipes (and the new ones you want to try).

      2. Each week, pick 10 meals from your menu planner instead of just 7. This will give you the option of changing the menu for a specific day. If something comes up and you can’t cook the fancy fillet mignon you were planning, there’s always frozen pizza!

That’s it! Menu planning can be as easy as you want it to be. The main thing is to make sure you have a “homepage” of menu ideas.
